Coin Errors and Varieties

Cherrypickers' Guide, Fourth Edition, Volume One by Bill Fivaz and J. T. Stanton. Finally, the Cherrypickers' Guide, Fourth Edition, Volume One by Bill Fivaz and J. T. Stanton, with Mike Ellis, is available. Volume One consists of half cents through nickels. There are 484 variety listings, 747 photos directly related to variety diagnostics. The 460 page volume is half again as large as the entire third edition, and this is just half cents through nickels! Other highlights include: Foreword by well known numismatic luminary Col. Bill Murray; more detailed Interest Rating system; hundreds of new and improved photos; updated rarity and values; and several pages of detailed descriptions of the Minting process, one each by John A. Wexler and J. T. Stanton. Detailed analysis of other forms of doubling is present (such as strike doubling), as you would expect.

The Lincoln Cent Doubled Die by John A. Wexler. For years this was the most popular book available to the error and variety hobby. Originally printed in 1984, all doubled dies in the series known by the author at the time of publication are included. The numbering system used in this classic reprint is largely the same as that used by the Combined Organizations of Numismatic Error Collectors of America (CONECA) today. Though additional research has revised some of the listings, most are the same today as they were at the time of the original publication! The original is among very few books cited in CONECA's U. S. Doubled Die Master Listing. Though many, many more doubled dies have been reported since publication, this remains a very good place to start when attributing your Lincoln cent doubled dies and is the only place many of them have ever been published.
